According to Voetbal International, West Ham are interested in signing Dutch intentional winger Ola John, who currently plays for Benfica.
Crystal Palace have also been linked with the 23-year-old, as per the Daily Mail, and the latest report states that he is available for £10 million.
Currently playing with Benfica, John has also turned out for Hamburg an FC Twente during his career, as well as being capped at international level with the Netherlands.
He has appeared 86 times for the Portuguese club, scoring nine goals and registering 15 assists, but they are looking to sell him this summer as John’s playing time has been reduced in recent months.
Would John be a good signing for West Ham?
As the Hammers have already brought in Dimitri Payet, the need to sign a new winger is not vital. However, the East London outfit could lose both Matt Jarvis and Stewart Downing this summer, and John would be a great replacement for that pair.
He is fast and skilful, and has an eye for goal, and still has age on his side as he develops. £10 million is a lot to pay for a player unproven in English football, but John is the kind of player who could push the Hammers to the next level - as they look to establish themselves as a European force in the coming years.
