Frequently linked with interest in Florin Andone over recent months, Aston Villa were expected to make a move for the forward following his impressive displays for Cordoba in La Liga, during the 2014-15 campaign.
However, in comments published by Diario Cordoba, agent Juan Jose Moral explained that there are "two English clubs" interested in his client, though he pointed out "Aston Villa aren't one of them" despite the media speculation.
Moral also added that two Spanish sides also want Andone, revealing: "One of them is Espanyol." He suggested the Catalan side are showing the strongest interest, but want to do business for a bargain price.
Cordoba president Carlos Gonzalez "started by asking for €5 million" for the player, acknowledged the agent, but that could "drop to around €1.2 million" he believes.
22-year-old Andone has two years left on his current contract with Cordoba, but his agent fully expects his client to be leaving the Andaluz club before the start of August.
Having stepped up successfully from the B team last season, Andone caught plenty of attention with the quality of his displays, even though Cordoba were struggling in La Liga and were eventually relegated from the Spanish top-flight.
On top of his strong technical ability, Andone also offers versatility, operating either as a centre-forward, deep-lying forward, or in wide areas of the pitch.
Despite the misfortune of his team, Andone netted five goals in 20 appearances in La Liga, whilst also scoring once in two Copa del Rey outings.
Such was the promise shown by the player, he earned his debut with the Romanian national team, appearing from the bench against Northern Ireland in June, as the two sides ground out a 0-0 draw in June.
