As per Sevilla’s official website, Yevhen Konoplyanka has now officially joined the recent Europa League winners after much speculation regarding his future.
The Ukraine international was arguably the best free transfer prospect on the market, his stock rising incredibly over the past 12 months following Dnipro’s excellent campaign.
In fact, it looked at one point that Spurs had pipped their rivals to his signature, with Eurosport claiming the exciting winger was due in North London for a medical ahead of a switch to White Hart Lane.
Such rumours, however, were wide of the mark and it is La Liga outfit Sevilla who have won the race, tying him down to a four-year contract with a release clause of roughly £28.6 million.
The challenge ahead for Konoplyanka will be an exciting one with Sevilla earning a spot in next season’s Champions League due to beating Dnipro, incidentally, in the recent Europa League final.
Following the sales of Aleix Vidal and Carlos Bacca it will be another season of development for Unai Emery’s men, though not many would put it past them challenging on the trophy front once again.
