Leeds United midfielder Luke Murphy has suffered a knee injury.
Leeds United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the news that Luke Murphy will miss the start of the season with a knee injury.
The midfielder will be sidelined for the rest of Leeds’ pre-season after twisting his knee during a training session at Thorp Arch.
This means that Murphy will certainly miss the Whites’ five pre-season friendly matches, starting with the game against Harrogate Town on Friday evening.
The former Crewe Alexandra player is expected to return to action within four to six weeks.
Murphy was an important player for Leeds last season, featuring in 30 games in the Championship.
In those 30 league fixtures, the 25-year-old scored three goals and created 38 chances.
Murphy had a pass accuracy of 72% and a shot accuracy of 41%, and won 23 headers, 18 dribbles and 69 tackles.
Following the injury news, Leeds took to Twitter to have their say. Below are the best comments:
Injury to Luke Murphy is big blow - we all know how long it took him to find form last season; may not see the best of him for months #lufc— David Watkins (@DaveLUFCWatkins) July 9, 2015
Grim news about Murphy but at least we have CM options... Recruiting a forward/winger or two with pace remains our biggest issue, imo. #lufc— EastStandÜpper (@EastStandUpper) July 9, 2015
With Murphy injured, I'd say this is the perfect opportunity to give Kalvin Phillips or Sloth a run. Save the ££ for where needed more #lufc— Mr Geldard (@MrJGeldard) July 9, 2015
Bad news regarding Luke Murphy, but hopefully this will speed up the process of signing a central midfielder (or two). #lufc— Jamie Collins (@LUJC83) July 9, 2015
