Former Southampton loanee Alderweireld has joined Tottenham, while ex-Newcastle United star Cabaye is reportedly on the verge of moving to Crystal Palace.
The Belgium international defender has joined Tottenham on a permanent contract from Atletico Madrid, having played the last season on loan at Premier League rivals Southampton.
“Alderweireld great signing for #Spurs,” the 26-year-old wrote on Kicca.com. “Wish they would go for Cabaye aswell.”
Alderweireld struggled to establish him at Atletico, but last season he showed his quality during a loan spell at Southampton.
The Belgium international, who can play as a centre-back as well as a right-back, scored one goal and created seven chances in 26 league appearances.
Alderweireld had a pass accuracy of 80% and a shot accuracy of 58%, and won 37 headers, seven dribbles and 35 tackles.
Cabaye was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League when he was at Newcastle United, but he has struggled to play regularly for French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
The France international is a brilliant midfielder, but he will not be guaranteed a place in Spurs’ starting line-up.
This means that there is no incentive for Cabaye to join Tottenham. Moreover, Crystal Palace are reportedly on the verge of signing the 29-year-old.
