Arsenal have announced their touring squad, but there is no place for Wellington Silva.

Arsenal have announced their pre-season squad to travel to Asia, and there is no place for Wellington Silva.

The Gunners have selected 27 players to fly out to Singapore, as confirmed via the club's official website, with a few other omissions too due to international commitments.

Alexis Sanchez misses out due to his Copa America heroics, with Joel Campbell at the Gold Cup with Costa Rica. David Ospina and Serge Gnabry are also resting.

Tomas Rosicky and Danny Welbeck are nursing injuries, which Arsenal's website describes as 'minor'.

Wellington Silva took part in his first training sessions with Arsenal this week after signing from Fluminense as long ago as 2010, and had hoped to earn a role in pre-season, so his omission will come as a blow.

It is unclear at this stage whether he has been left out due to fitness, a footballing choice by Arsene Wenger, another loan move being prepared, or even passport issues.

There is a place in the squad for exciting signing from Lens, Jeff Reine Adelaide, and fellow youngsters Chris Willock, Gedion Zelalem and Dan Crowley, while new goalkeeper Petr Cech will also be involved.

Goalkeepers:

Petr Cech, Emiliano Martinez, Wojciech Szczesny.
