Celtic have today confirmed on their official website that they have signed striker Nadir Ciftci from Dundee United on a four-year contract.
Ciftci, 23, has hit 33 goals over the last two seasons for Dundee United, and his performances at Tannadice have now given him his big move to Celtic.
The Bhoys have snapped up the Turkish forward on a deal until 2019, with Ronny Deila bringing Ciftci in as a replacement for former loanee John Guidetti ahead of the club's Champions League qualifiers.
Ciftci now becomes Celtic's fourth summer signing, following Dedryck Boyata, Saidy Janko and Logan Bailly to Glasgow in what has been a productive transfer window for Deila so far.
Whilst fans have so far been positive about Celtic's business, there has certainly been a divide in opinion over whether Ciftci is a good signing or not.
Many believe Ciftci to be overrated, and unworthy of wearing the No. 7 shirt he has been awarded at Celtic - but with the added note that they hope Ciftci proves them wrong.
Others believe that Ciftci's record in Scottish football justifies why Celtic have signed him, and think that the 23-year-old forward can have a big impact next season.
A bit cautious of @celticfc singing Ciftci but time will tell and hopefully he brings us glory! No.7 is a hard number to fill!— Jason (@JasonMcG99) July 9, 2015
Wasn't a signing I wanted but he's a Celt now so will give him a go n have faith Ronny will cut out any discipline/attitude issues. #Ciftci— Natasha Graham (@NatashaG6779) July 9, 2015
As with all Players, Ciftci will get a clean slate now he's a Celtic player. I'll judge him in performances for us alone.— I Am Doom (@JamesVonDoom) July 9, 2015
Delighted with the Ciftci signing. Taking the number 7 straight away though, risky. But I reckon he will prove a lot of people wrong.— Danny (@DannyLyons67) July 9, 2015
Pretty excited by the Ciftci signing, nearly 1 in 2 for United, only 23, big skilful striker.... What's not to like?— StPaulsCeltic (@StPaulsCeltic) July 9, 2015
Have a feeling Ciftci could be special, not too bothered about numbers, it's not important.— Mark Conway (@larssonmc2) July 9, 2015
GMS, Armstrong and Nadir Ciftci for under £4 million is great business by Celtic all under 25 with bags of potential! #celtic— Paul (@scullybhoy) July 9, 2015
It seems like I'm in the minority on here but I reckon Ciftci will do really well for Celtic. I'd bet 25+ goals next season.— The Big Legowski (@TheBigLegowski) July 9, 2015
Seems to be an unpopular opinion but delighted with Nadir Ciftci signing, better than what we have up front.Only going to get better as well— Niall McCloskey (@niallmccloskey_) July 9, 2015
