West Brom's Saido Berahino parts with Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling's agent - now how will he be perceived?

The West Brom forward has parted company with Aidy Ward at a time when Raheem Sterling's Liverpool future continues to generate headlines.

West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino has parted company with his agent Aidy Ward, the man who also represents Liverpool's Raheem Sterling has told the Daily Mail.

Berahino has been a player who was linked with a move away from The Hawthorns throughout last season as he enjoyed an impressive campaign which saw him find the net in the Premier League on 18 occasions.

There were reports back in January suggesting that the forward would stall on a new deal with the Baggies in order force through a move to, ironically, Liverpool, according to the Daily Mirror.

This is also around the time Sterling's representatives were in talks over a potential new deal at Anfield, but the saga has unfolded into something rather unsavoury as reports, such as those in the Guardian, claim that Sterling does not want to work with Brendan Rodgers having previously praised him for aiding his development in the past.

It can't have been a great time for Berahino when it comes to his own reputation at West Brom as reports of him stalling on his contract began to circulate.

But the entire footballing world has seen what has gone on at Liverpool, and maybe Berahino has thought about his own reputation. He may see the events at Anfield as something he needs to steer well clear of.

All footballers have to think of their reputation, and at the rate things are going, Sterling is not going to get the best reception at several Premier League grounds next season, whichever shirt he may be donning. Berahino has probably looked at the situation and thought 'that might be me' and didn't really want that.

There some murmurs [purely anecdotal] that the West Brom forward didn't come across so well. Maybe it's a contribution of factors, but maybe Raheem Sterling should be taking a leaf out of Berahino's book.
