Newcastle United are not as far progressed in their pursuit of Aleksandar Mitrovic as earlier claimed.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla had claimed on his website that the club had agreed a fee with Anderlecht and the striker was due to travel to England for talks.
Roma were also claimed to be strongly interested.
Now according to Belgian website Anderlecht Online, Mitrovic is not on his way to Newcastle, and has been taking part in the club's Thursday morning pre-season training session as originally scheduled.
Belgian website HLN report Mitrovic is unconvinced over moving to Newcastle United, and rates them as his last choice, among Porto, Roma, and Benfica, due to the fact they cannot offer Champions League football.
The development is a disappointment for Newcastle, who learned via PSV's official website that target Georginio Wijnaldum has been named among the Dutch side's travelling party for their pre-season tour.
Newcastle are keen to complete a transfer before heading out on their own pre-season camp this weekend.
Serbian striker Mitrovic is one of the most highly rated young strikers in Europe.
