A selection of stories in the media involving Aston Villa from the last 24 hours…
Aston Villa have reopened talks with the agent of Felipe Avenatti according to TMW. The six foot five striker was said to interest Villa last month but was close to a move to Cagliari, that move has since collapsed however, and the Villans have apparently reaffirmed their interest.
Leeds United are also believed to be interested but Villa are ahead in the negotiations at this point, having already had discussions with the club and player himself.
The Irishman has opted not to extend his contract and the Villa boss is reportedly happy to let the 39-year old go on a free transfer.
The £9 million rated Amavi is believed to be on Arsenal’s radar but the Villans have pushed ahead with an offer and talks are ongoing.
“So many people expect that I will leave, but again, only if it is something beautiful and clubs come for me. If not, then I play soon again, with pride, in the jersey of Feyenoord.”
A replacement for the soon-to-be outgoing Shay Given may have been found already with free agent Mark Bunn believed to be in talks with Villa, as revealed by HITC.
The 30-year old stopper is a free agent after his Norwich contract expired last month and had been due to sign for Bristol City before Villa declared their interest.
Finally, new arrival Micah Richards revealed he turned down Inter Milan for a move to Villa Park, as per Sky Sports News.
"I was speaking to Inter as well with Mancini... but I wanted to come back to England," said Richards.
"I didn't want to be out in Italy and then the manager gets sacked and I'm fighting for my place in the same situation."
