On this day last year, Germany thrashed Brazil 7-1 in the World Cup semi-final.
The Germans went on to win the whole competition, but it was the victory over the hosts which caused the biggest shockwaves in the tournament. Already a competition full of attacking football, Germany could have - and should have - scored more against Brazil, and really should not have conceded.
Considering it was a semi-final, no one expected Germany to go all out for the victory like they did. With Miroslav Klose netting a goal to break the World Cup scoring record, and the Germans being 5-0 up in 29 minutes, the game became an exhibition in torture - rather than an evenly matched tie.
Regardless it was a result which shook the world to disbelief, and to celebrate the anniversary of the shock result, we take a look at five famous Premier League thrashings.
Newcastle United 5-0 Manchester United - 1996
Tottenham Hotspur 9-1 Wigan Athletic - 2009
