Leeds United head coach Uwe Rosler has explained on the club’s website, the two qualities he feels are going to be important for the side this season.
Leeds are under pressure to significantly improve on their 15th place finish under Neil Redfearn last season, with Rosler stressing the need for the players to master two traits over the course of the next ten months.
“Not just over four weeks, but over 10 months in good times and bad times. He’s a very important person to achieve that.”
Why is mentality important for Leeds?
Mentality is key because of the pressure for positive results, alongside the weight of the players representing one of the biggest clubs in the country.
If the players don’t have a positive mentality, they won’t be well equipped to deal with the various challenges that they’ll experience throughout the season.
Mentality is also important for games where Leeds may not be expected to win. Regardless of the competition, the squad need to always have the belief that they can rise above any underdog status.
Why is morale important for Leeds?
A good morale is important because there are going to be periods in the season where bad spells develop.
Massimo Cellino’s character also makes him unpredictable and a strong morale will help the squad to be able to cope with any changes in personnel the Italian feels are necessary, which can cause disruption which affects results.
The development of morale will be aided if Cellino can resist the urge to pull the trigger if early results don’t pan out as everyone at the club will be hoping.
