The defender is expecting a positive influence from the former Chelsea man.
The assistant manager joined Villa last month to become Tim Sherwood’s number two, with the former Chelsea man replacing Kevin McDonald who moved into a new youth development role.
That spell at Stamford Bridge was a highly successful one for Wilkins as he won the title with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm, and Clark says that winning mentality will help Villa.
"I have been really impressed with Ray,” he told avfc.co.uk.
"He's got a winning mentality too. He knows what it takes to succeed at the very highest level. He did it as a player and he was very successful in his spell at Chelsea too with Carlo Ancelotti. The gaffer has already spoken about instilling that winning mentality - and Ray will definitely help with that."
A positive addition for both Sherwood and the players
Bringing in Wilkins as number two may prove a masterstroke for Tim Sherwood on more than one level.
While his experience at bigger clubs is likely to have a positive impact on the players at the club as he uses that knowledge to help them develop in training in beyond.
However, he is also likely to proven useful to Sherwood himself as well. The former Spurs man is still relatively new to the management game having only managed both Tottenham and Villa for half a season each, so Wilkins experience will prove beneficial to him also.
