The talented midfielder said: “So many people expect that I will leave, but again, only if it is something beautiful and clubs come for me. If not, then I play soon again, with pride, in the jersey of Feyenoord.”
Clasie has established himself in the Eredivisie as one of the best midfielders in the division, as well as becoming a consistent Dutch international, and it is no surprise that he has been linked with making a move to a bigger league this summer.
The Premier League seems like the most popular destination for the 24-year-old, with a host of clubs said to be in for him.
The Telegraph claim that Aston Villa want him, whilst Sunderland have been linked, as per SoccerNews. Manchester United were claimed as being keen on the midfielder in Voetbal International, and the Mirror has stated that Newcastle and Southampton both want him.
Saints boss Ronald Koeman even confirmed to VI that Clasie is on his shortlist of summer targets, having worked together at Feyenoord for a number of years.
The latest comments do not rule out a move away from his homeland, but certainly make it appear as if Clasie is not as keen on a transfer as reports are making out.
A move is still likely if approached with an offer that is ‘beautiful’ to him, but there are no promises being made that the talented midfielder will be leaving Feyenoord this summer, after months of speculation claiming a summer move was all-but guaranteed.
