Liverpool's summer signing has high praise for the 25-year-old.
The 22-year-old arrives at Anfield this summer after an impressive season with Burnley and feels there is much he can learn from England and Liverpool forward Sturridge.
"He is one of those players who has come through the ranks, he has not had it easy. Now he's here and he's established; he's a fantastic, talented football player I can learn from."
Can the two form a partnership?
The chances of Sturridge and Ings forming a partnership as a duo up top seem remote, with Liverpool still heavily linked with Aston Villa's Christian Benteke, according to the Daily Mirror among others.
However, there's no reason Ings can't combine well with Sturridge if the former plays out wide and the latter can stay fit for long enough to have another successful campaign at Anfield.
Both are young, English and mobile - but both will have plenty to prove. The main question surrounding Sturridge is, naturally, whether he can remain injury-free. Ings, meanwhile, will be out to make his name as more than simply a squad player at Liverpool, as some, including former striker John Aldridge, have suggested he could be.
