Simone Zaza has completed his move to Serie A champions Juventus.

As per the club’s official website, Italian giants Juventus have completed the signing of highly-rated striker Simone Zaza from Sassuolo for a fee of £12.8 million.

The 24-year-old star had long been linked with a move away from the club with a switch to the Premier League heavily mooted during the January transfer window.

On that occasion, as per Sky Sports Italia, Tottenham Hotspur were keen suitors and contact was made for the striker, despite his intentions of staying with Sassuolo until at least the summer.

Spurs’ reported interest continued well into spring, Italian publication TMW stating the North Londoners were plotting a bid in the region of £12 million once the season had culminated.

However, talks of Zaza moving to White Hart Lane quietened ahead of the summer and the striker has instead opted to join Serie A champions Juventus, signing a five-year contract on Tuesday afternoon.

What are Tottenham Hotspur missing out on?

Simone Zaza is a hardworking centre-forward, capable of playing the target-man role and would arguably have been a solid alternative for Spurs striker Harry Kane.

Last season, he notched 11 goals and added two assists in 29 Serie A starts, a moderate effort considering his side were in a relegation battle until a fabulous late-season run of form.
