Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Nabil Bentaleb's new Tottenham contract

The 20-year old today signed a five year deal, tying him to the club until 2020.

Nabil Bentaleb's contract renewal has been long overdue, as far as most Spurs fans are concerned, and today finally saw its announcement on the club's official site.

The midfielder had an excellent campaign last year, appearing 34 times in all competitions, and took his game to new heights under Mauricio Pochettino's tutelage, building upon his previous half-season under Tim Sherwood.

He has become an integral part of this new, youthful Spurs team and his absence through injury and his African Cup of Nations participation with Algeria was sorely felt.

With his future now secured, the onus is on Pochettino and Daniel Levy to continue to improve the squad so that the likes of Nabil Bentaleb, Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen actually stick around to see out their lengthy deals.

Twitter was predictably awash with insight and opinion following the announcement and it was an overwhelming thumbs up from Spurs fans (almost):

And hats off to this user, who managed to sum up the sentiment quite beautifully:
