Report: Former Arsenal forward Carlos Vela turns down West Ham move

They face competition from Wolfsburg for the former Arsenal man however.

Real Sociedad, and former Arsenal winger Carlos Vela has turned down a move to West Ham United, claims Marca - following reports on Radio Marca Donostia.

The Hammers are reportedly willing to pay the £21.2million buy-out clause for the Mexican, as well as offering an increase on the contract he currently has with club.

However, Real’s president Jokin Aperribay has is reported to have categorically turned down the offer, stating that he is not interested in selling the player, nor will he negotiate any offer that arrives for him.

It is believed by Marca that German side Wolfsburg are also interested in the forward and would rival Slaven Bilic’s side for him, having tried to sign the player last season only to see that advance rejected.

West Ham or Wolfsburg for Vela?

Should Vela change his mind, it is uncertain which could club he would be likely to choose. Unfortunately for the Hammers, Wolfsburg would be able to offer Champions League football, which is sure to push them ahead in the pecking order.

Having said that, Vela might fancy another shot at impressing in the Premier League after his relatively impressive spell in La Liga, having not been given the chance to establish himself at Arsenal.

For the mean time it seems a move is unlikely, given his current club’s reluctance to sell, but should he push for a move, it will be interesting to see which side he would pick.
