The 30-year-old defender, who is versatile enough to play on both wings, left the Magpies at the end of the 2014/15 Premier League campaign with the expiration of his contract, and his experience and talent would make him a strong acquisition for many clubs.
A veteran of over 100 Premier League and Football League appearances, at 30 he still has a few years ahead of him, and QPR are looking at the defender to rebuild their squad this summer.
He would bring experience to a side who are looking to usher in a new era of success af Loftus Road, and although an ageing Premier League star is the kind of player they are looking to get away from, Taylor will not be the overpaid and underperforming former star they are used to signing.
He would still be able to perform in the top flight, and securing him in the Championship would be a real coup.
However, QPR are not the only team fighting for Taylor’s signature, with the same report claiming that Bournemouth, Hull and Norwich are all interested in the former Wigan man.
There is a lot of interest in Taylor, which is no surprise given his talent, and it remains to be seen if any of the teams formalise their interest and approach Taylor with a concrete offer ahead of the 2015/16 season.
