Report: Inter Milan claimed to agree personal terms with Tottenham target Mario Suarez

Tottenham face an uphill battle to sign Mario Suarez, but Inter are still haggling over a fee.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez has agreed personal terms with Serie A side Inter Milan, report Tuttomercatoweb.

The Spanish international is the subject on interest from both Inter and Tottenham Hotspur, with The Sun claiming word from his agent that a Premier League offer is also on the table.

While as Tuttomercatoweb report Suarez has an agreement with Inter; the club are yet to meet Atletico Madrid's demands.

A release clause of £8.5 million exists in his contract, but Inter are haggling and hope to be able to sign him for less. The La Liga side are not budging.

Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio reported on his website last week that Tottenham were Inter's biggest rivals for Suarez, and chairman Daniel Levy is already said to be in Madrid to negotiate over defender Toby Alderweireld.

Is there still hope?

Inter have already signed Suarez's former Atletico teammate Miranda this summer, and his release clause is a more than reasonable one.

Tottenham could potentially sign him as a replacement for Paulinho and still remain in profit, and with Europa League competition to balance, he would provide vital experience to a young midfield.

While Inter continue to play hardball over a fee, Tottenham have an opportunity, and should not give up hope that a deal can be done.
