Report: Crystal Palace agree deal in principle for PSG midfielder Yohan Cabaye

Selhurst Park - Crystal Palace - 23/02/2014

The Frenchman has been the subject of interest from several Premier League clubs this summer.

Alan Pardew looks set to reunite with former Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye at Crystal Palace, according to a report in The Guardian.

The Eagles are believed to have agreed a club record fee of over £10 million with Paris Saint-Germain, and all that remains now is for the player to agree terms.

Cabaye is said to need evidence of the Eagles' long-term project and ambition before confirming his switch, however, and Pardew will be doing his utmost to sell the 29-year old on Palace’s plans.

The France international will make his decision by next week, according to the report, meaning West Ham United and Newcastle could both potentially steal in before then.

Cabaye’s arrival would be a major coup for Palace considering his experience and profile in European football and would mark a turning point in the club’s recent history, as they look to push on and become established in the top half of the Premier League.

Business has been slow so far this summer, with only Brede Hangeland joining on a one-year deal and James McCarthur signing a new three-year deal today, as announced on the club’s official site.

The Frenchman is just the calibre of player needed at Selhurst Park, however, if they are to push on further and build on last season's impressive campaign.
