Arsenal are interested in making a blockbuster move to sign winger Angel di Maria from Manchester United, claim The Mail.
The Argentine scored three goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League during his debut campaign at Old Trafford, but saw him form trail off badly at the end of the season.
He has it all to prove and has been linked with an Old Trafford exit just a year after the Red Devils paid £59.7 million to sign him from Real Madrid.
The Mail report: "Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria would be of interest to Wenger who has tried to land the Argentina international on two previous occasions."
The Ozil factor
Di Maria has been linked in recent months by The Mirror with a switch to French champions PSG, but a former Real Madrid teammate could influence his decision.
The Argentine played successfully alongside Mesut Ozil for the La Liga side, and The Mail report claims Arsenal are to move Ozil back into the number 10 role permanently in order to accommodate a top quality winger, with Di Maria suggested.
Manchester United are going to be resistant to cashing in on their record signing after just one season, let alone to a Premier League rival.
Arsenal's chances of this transfer are slim to none with that in mind, while he would also likely have to take a drop in wages to move to The Emirates.
United would demand a minimum of £50 million which would itself require Arsenal to break their own spending record.
