The Saints confirmed the signing of Cuco Martina on Tuesday, and he has already started training with his new teammates.

The 25-year-old defender arrives from FC Twente in the Netherlands, having built a reputation as a dependable, if unspectacular, player. He has been capped 20 times by Curaco, and leaves Twente having made 56 appearances for the club.
Naturally a right-back, he has shown an adaptability to play all across the defensive line, and although he is not lauded as a fantastic player, the Saints’ scouting network have clearly seen something to be impressed by.
Southampton assistant boss Erwin Koeman coached the defender at RKC Waalwijk, prior to his move to Twente, and is said to have been impressed by him enough to recommend him to the Saints.
Having only signed on Tuesday, it has not taken Martina long to settle in to his new surroundings. He is already involved in first-team training, and is set to travel with the squad on their pre-season tour of Austria.
Big things are expected of Martina following his move to St Mary's, and everyone will be intrigued to see how the defender adapts to the rigours of English football.
