Liverpool fans, remember Rafa Paez? Possibly not...
The defender signed from Real Madrid's academy in 2013 at the age of 19, but is yet to play a first team game for the club.
Capable of playing in central defence and at right-back, Paez has featured only in friendly matches for the Reds.
He had a spell out on loan at Italian side Bologna for the first half of last season where he featured in the first team for the Serie A side, and had later hoped to go to Spanish side Eibar, only to see the switch blocked by red tape.
Despite his initial two-year deal he signed having expired, but it appears he has a future with the Reds still, and is keen to make it work.
He is not the only one hoping for a fresh start, with Tiago Ilori in a similar situation, but his performances for Portugal's under-21 side have elevated him into first team discussions.
The issue with Paez, who turns 21 in August, will be whether he is good enough, but if he gets a fair crack in pre-season to make an impression, then Liverpool are at least holding up their end of the bargain.
