They say that form is temporary but class is permanent, and that certainly seems to be the case when it comes to Newcastle United icon Alan Shearer.
The 44-year-old former Magpies and England favourite has not played competitively since retiring way back in 2006.
But while his punditry work for the BBC’s flagship highlights programme Match of the Day continues to divide opinion between those who find him a bit boring and those who can’t stand him, he still has the silky skills.
That keen eye for goal that was such a prominent part of Shearer’s play during his Premier League heyday was on display once again this week.
Currently on holiday with his family, it was his son, Will Shearer, who successfully showcased his pin-point accuracy in a clip posted online.

Having successfully landed the ball on his acquired target, Shearer then wheeled of with his trademark one hand in the air celebration.
In a time when Newcastle are crying out for a natural goalscorer of Sir Alan’s ilk, this quirky clip was a timely reminder of just how good the Toon faithful had it for so long.
