The Napoli defender has admitted that he is flattered to be linked to big clubs but isn’t paying attention to the speculation.

Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam has spoken out about being linked to big clubs like Arsenal, telling Le Buteur that he is flattered by the reported interest.

French Eurosport claimed recently that the Gunners were weighing up a summer raid for the Algeria international to bolster their ranks ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Arsene Wenger’s men are widely expected to have significant competition for the African left-back’s signature should he be allowed to leave the Stadio San Paolo.

However, Ghoulam is keeping his feet on the ground, and although flattered by the link to Arsenal and other top European clubs, is not getting carried away.

“It’s nice to be spoken about in connection with prestigious clubs,” he told Le Buteur.

“But frankly, I do not pay too much attention. I’m not bothering my head with that. I’m on holiday at the moment - we will see what happens.”

The 24-year-old played a role in Algeria’s exciting World Cup campaign last summer in Brazil, while he was a consistent performer for Napoli last term, despite the club missing out on achieving their objectives.

The former Saint-Etienne man had an impressive debut campaign in Serie A and has become renowned for his ability to get forward.

The Gunners already have Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs in North London, but the Spaniard is frequently linked with a return to his homeland.
