Manchester United transfer news: Robben and Muller linked with Di Maria swap; Rafael up for sale

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to Sky Sports Manchester United will listen to offers for their right-back Rafael Da Silva this summer.

The Brazilian barely featured last season under manager Louis van Gaal, with Antonio Valencia preferred at the back despite the fact that the Ecuadorian is not a natural full-back.

Rafael, who remains injury-prone and is not averse to a mistake or two during big matches, played only 11 times in all competitions last season and it would be no surprise if he moved on before the new campaign kicks off.

He certainly has the talent, but it seems van Gaal does not rate him sufficiently for a long-term stay at the club.

In other news, the Guardian reports that Bayern Munich have made a frankly unbelievable offer for United winger Angel di Maria.

The Argentine international only arrived at Old Trafford last summer in a club-record deal; but after a poor debut campaign he has been linked with a swift exit, and reports are now claiming that Bayern are willing to offer Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller and cash for the former Real Madrid man.

Let’s face it: If that offer was on the table van Gaal would surely bite Bayern’s hand off, so we will take it with a pinch of salt…at least for now.
