HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Shrewsbury Town have rejected a bid from Leeds United for talented defender Connor Goldson.
Goldson has earned himself a reputation as one of the best young defenders in the country after impressing at Shrewsbury over the last couple of years.
The 22-year-old has racked up over 100 appearances for Shrewsbury in his fledgling career and is tipped for a big future in the game.
Goldson attracted the interest of Premier League clubs last summer before being persuaded to sign a new deal at Shrewsbury to continue his development.
The 6ft,3in central defender was instrumental in helping Shrewsbury win promotion to League One last season and was rewarded for his stellar performances by being named in the PFA League Two Team of the Year as well as scooping supporters Player of the season and the Players' Player of the Season at the club's annual awards last season.
Leeds boss Uwe Rosler is thought to be an admirer of Goldson as he looks to bring in a new centre-back to add to his squad.
However, Leeds have seen their first offer for Goldson rejected as Shrewsbury are reluctant to lose their prized asset.
It remains to be seen if Leeds come back with a new offer for Goldson as Rosler looks to add to his four new arrivals at Elland Road.
