Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has explained on Spurs TV, how the difficult experience of relegation with Burnley last season, has had a big impact on him.
Trippier was recently confirmed as a summer arrival for Mauricio Pochettino and he’s looking to make the most of his opportunity to carry on performing in the top flight and developing as a defender.
“I enjoyed my time last year – It was a great experience for myself, my first time in the Premier League,” he told Spurs TV.
“It’s (relegation with Burnley) made me more hungry to stay in the Premier League where I’ve always wanted to stay and play since I was young – I’ve got that chance now with Tottenham and I’m determined to take it with both hands.”
What are the benefits Tottenham present?
Tottenham are a massive club and create a number of benefits for any player who is considering joining them.
The aim for next season in the Premier League will be the top four and Spurs can offer Trippier the chance to play in the Europa League over the next few months, which is a different experience from him and one that he should benefit from.
He’s also got a great chance at Spurs to work closely with Mauricio Pochettino on ways to develop his all round game and the way he thinks about being a full-back.
A challenge in the squad
Trippier comes into the Tottenham squad where there are already good options in his position in the form of Kyle Walker and DeAndre Yedlin.
The latter could go out on loan, which would mean more chances for Trippier to play but the experience of the former means he’ll have to work very hard to transform his status in terms of the pecking order at the club.
