The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been speaking about his manager at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been speaking to FourFourTwo about his early days at White Hart Lane and how Mauricio Pochettino played a vital role in ensuring he chose a move to North London.
The talented teenager signed for Tottenham from MK Dons during the winter transfer window but he remained with the then-League One club for the remainder of the season, ultimately helping them win promotion to the Championship.
Alli agreed a five-and-a-half year deal with Tottenham back in February, signing for an initial £5million, and while big things are expected of the 19-year-old he is obviously going to take time to settle in and play to the best of his ability.
“When we were looking at moving I think it was really important that we found a manager who was similar to the gaffer (Karl Robinson),” Alli told FourFourTwo, “someone who has a lot of trust in young players and isn’t scared to put them on.
“I can see that in the manager (at Spurs) so it’s a great move for me.”
Pochettino has showed faith in the likes of Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason and there is every chance Alli will get chances sooner rather than later.
Alex Pritchard is also expected to feature regularly following a succesful loan spell at Brentford and it is clearly a time of great excitement at White Hart Lane.
Alli may be young but he is ready for this next step and having chosen Tottenham it will be interesting to see if he lives up to – and potentially even exceeds – his considerable potential.
