Birmingham, Charlton and Wigan battle for Paul Anderson

HITC Sport understands Birmingham City face competition from Charlton Athletic and Wigan Athletic for former Ipswich Town winger Paul Anderson.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club former Ipswich Town winger Paul Anderson is a target for Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic and Wigan Athletic.

Former Liverpool youngster Anderson is looking for a new club after leaving Ipswich upon the expiration of his contract at Portman Road.

The 26-year-old made 68 appearances, scoring seven goals during his two years at Ipswich after joining from Bristol City.

Birmingham were thought to be leading the chase for Anderson, but now Charlton and Wigan have shown an interest in the wide man.

Charlton are looking to add to their attacking options this summer, while Wigan are keen to have Anderson on board as Gary Caldwell looks to build a side capable of winning promotion back to the Championship.

Anderson is now thought to be weighing up offers from all three clubs and the ex-Hull City and Nottingham Forest man is expected to make a decision on his future next week as he wants to find himself a new club as soon as possible
