Why Manchester United have made a huge mistake selling Angelo Henriquez

The Chilean has left Manchester United but he had the talent to flourish at Old Trafford.

As confirmed on their official website Manchester United have agreed to sell Angelo Henriquez to Dinamo Zagreb this summer.

The Chile international spent last season on loan in Croatia and United manager Louis van Gaal has now decided the 21-year-old does not have a future at Old Trafford; a huge mistake on the part of the Dutchman.

Henriquez first arrived at United with a big reputation, a player who had already made waves in his homeland scoring 11 goals in just 17 league games for Universidad de Chile as a teenager.

Here was a player who was a natural born goal-scorer and United had him in their ranks, and his ability on the field was only reconfirmed during his loan spell at Dinamo, during which time he scored 29 goals in 37 matches.

So just why are United happy to wave him goodbye?

This one makes little sense, especially with Radamel Falcao moving on, doubts remaining over the future of Robin van Persie and the fact that James Wilson may well go on loan next season.

United cannot rely solely on Wayne Rooney and – if he stays – Javier Hernandez for the goals and even if another quality striker arrives this summer Henriquez is young enough to have been happy with a regular place on the bench if it meant he finally had the chance to show the Old Trafford faithful what he can do.

United have made a few transfer mistakes in the past and Henriquez's name can now be added to that list.

He has the talent to score hundreds of goals in his career and it is a huge shame that his United career ended before it even began.
