Recent Nottingham Forest signing Jamie Ward explained what he feels the club’s fans want to see from any of Dougie Freedman’s key players next season, as covered by BBC Radio Nottingham’s official Facebook page.
The dust has settled on Ward’s arrival at the club and he’s explained that he feels all Forest fans care about, with the new season roughly one month away, is that they get complete commitment from any player representing the club.
“Every ground I go to, I seem to get a bit of stick and I enjoy that – With the club that you’re playing for, as long as you’re working hard, the fans are always going to love you. Sometimes your performances aren’t going to be good, but that’s all that they care about,” he said.
Does Ward need to have an instant impact with Forest?
Considering his past ties with Derby County, there are going to be a few Forest fans who will want to see an instant impact from the 29-year-old.
He’ll be under pressure because that small group of supporters won’t hesitate to get on his back if he doesn’t justify the reason that Freedman drafted him into his first team setup.
That will only add to the pressure and cause the frustration within the player to grow as he looks to try and make an impact.
Why Freedman will be delighted
Manager Dougie Freedman will be delighted because Ward appears to be focused on key aspects and qualities, which the majority of players in the Championship can overlook.
Freedman will always demand commitment and honesty from his team and it’s a philosophy which Ward appears to buy into and one, which shouldn’t see him go too wrong under the guidance of the Scot.
