Twitter reacts as ex Celtic target Jelle Vossen signs for Burnley

The Belgian forward was on loan at Middlesbrough from Genk last season.

Burnley completed the signing of former Middlesbrough loanee Jelle Vossen on Monday from Genk, despite reported interest in the striker from Scottish champions Celtic recently, according to the Daily Record

Vossen scored 9 goals in 42 matches at the Riverside last season, and was part of the team that lost to Norwich City in the playoff final in May.

The campaign before that he had captained Genk and netted 19 goals. He played a vital part in Genk's league championship win in 2011, alongside Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois and Wolfsburg's Kevin de Bruyne.

The 26-year-old is a Belgium international who was prolific in his domestic league before his loan in the North-East, and he is brought in at the recently relegated Clarets to help take over from the departed Danny Ings.

Twitter reacted to news of his switch to Turf Moor in a variety of ways, with Celtic fans disappointed the club hadn't pushed harder for the player, and Middlesbrough supporters concerned the player went to a league rival. Unsurprisingly, Burnley fans took the tweets of others as signs that their new forward is a player to be happy with.

Below are a selection of a few of the tweets that were made regarding the Belgian:
