According to a report from Blick, free agent Tranquillo Barnetta has been offered a deal to sign for Swiss side St. Gallen this summer, but there is also interest in the 30-year-old from Premier League duo Leicester City and Watford.
The Blick report claims that St. Gallen have offered Barnetta a two-year deal with an annual wage of €350,000 but the player himself told the website that he is yet to decide his next move.
The paper claims that Leicester and Watford have also expressed their interest in the player but there is no information regarding potential contracts on offer from either club.
In regards to the Swiss side’s offer, that equates to around £248,000-a-year, the winger said: “It is clear that St. Gallen always attracts me; I will certainly come back. But if now is the right time for it, I do not know yet.”
Barnetta is predominantly a left winger who can also play on the opposite flank or as an attacking midfielder if required.
He was previously on the books of German club Schalke, where he played 60 times and he also turned out 229 times for Bayer Leverkusen and 31 times for Eintracht Frankfurt among others.
His previous spell as a St. Gallen player, where featured 52 times for the first-team, means an offer of a return will never be ignored.
But it seems the player may still feel he has one more move in him before his return, with Leicester and Watford potentially readying offers of their own.
His experience would certainly make him a good signing for either club and his ability to both score and create means he would bring plenty to either the resurgent Foxes or the newly-promoted Hornets.
