Tottenham media round-up: Soldado could leave for £12m, confident of landing Alderweireld

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Monday evening.

Midfielder Etienne Capoue has left the club today for Watford - the Hornets have confirmed on their website.

Capoue was signed two seasons ago but the Frenchman failed to make much of an impact at White Hart Lane. There has been no exact figure released by Watford, but they say they have paid a club record fee for the player.

There were reports that it could be an initial loan deal, but he has signed a four-year deal at Vicarage Road.

Elsewhere, another signing from the summer of 2013 may be on the way out with the Daily Mail reporting that Villarreal are interested in signing Roberto Soldado.

Soldado was bought for around £26 million from Valencia two seasons ago but has only managed to find the net on 16 goals having made 76 appearances.

There have been enquiries from Spanish clubs, and he is attracting interest from clubs in Turkey but no bids have been made yet - though Spurs are said to be hopeful of selling the Spaniard for around £12 million.

The London Evening Standard are reporting that Toby Alderweireld is still expected to complete a move to White Hart Lane, despite reports suggesting Southampton could take legal action against Atletico Madrid.

Alderweireld spent last season on loan with the Saints with an option to buy, though the La Liga side could pay Southampton a fee in order to sell the Belgian to another club.

It is believed Spurs don't feel the dispute between Atletico and Southampton is anything to do with them, and may conclude a deal that could ultimately be worth around £11.5 million.
