Tottenham Hotspur transfer round-up: Two issues could prevent Alderweireld deal

A round up of news stories this morning related to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Daily Star has reported that Southampton have apparently sent two officials to Spain to try and hijack a move for Toby Alderweireld.

The paper suggests that a fee has been agreed between Spanish club Atletico Madrid and Tottenham over the defender, thought to be in the region of £11.5 million.

However, the Saints don’t appear ready to give up on a permanent deal for the player they had on loan last season.

The Daily Mirror is claiming that a legal dispute lodged by Southampton could be another reason for a delay in any deal.

The paper states that the Saints feel that Atletico Madrid will be in breach of agreement if they decide to sell the Belgian defender to Tottenham.

Former France boss Raymond Domenech has been quoted by the Daily Mail urging Hugo Lloris not to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

The paper claims that the Frenchman is a target for Tottenham’s Premier League rivals Manchester United.

However, Domenech has suggested that there’s not a great deal of difference in terms of potential between his current employers and the Old Trafford club.

“Tottenham is a big club – it is not the biggest. Manchester United qualified for the Champions League, but I can't see really the difference with Tottenham,” he said.
