Tottenham and Watford fans react on Twitter to Etienne Capoue’s transfer

Etienne Capoue left Tottenham to sign with Premier League rivals Watford.

As confirmed by the official Watford website, French midfielder Capoue left Spurs to sign with the Hornets.

The 26-year-old signed for a club record fee, having moved to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2013. A star with former club Toulouse, Capoue made 196 appearances for the French club, before signing for Spurs.

However, he failed to establish himself in North London, making just 36 appearances across his two seasons. Injury and managerial changes prevented some of his game time, although there were apparent issues with his attitude which have been attributed to some of his failures.

Capoue departs with little reputation in English football, but his signing is still impressive for Watford. He will improve their playing squad and add Premier League experience to the Hornets first-team set-up.

Following the completion of the deal, Watford and Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to Capoue’s move to Hertfordshire, with many pleased to see him finally move to a club with whom he will get a chance to play consistent football.
