Tor-Kristian Karlsen raves about Nicolas Lombaerts on Twitter

Premier League duo Sunderland and Everton are reportedly interested in Zenit Saint Petersburg defender Nicolas Lombaerts.

Well-known Norwegian football scout Tor-Kristian Karlsen has been singing the praises of Zenit Saint Petersburg defender Nicolas Lombaerts on social networking site Twitter.

The Belgium international centre-back has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer.

According to HLN, Sunderland to set to sign the 30-year-old, although Merseyside outfit Everton are also reported to be showing interest in him.

Karlsen, a former chief executive and sporting director of Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco, rates Lombaerts highly, as his following posts on Twitter show:

Sunderland narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League last season, and they need to sign defensively reinforcements this summer.

Belgium international Lombaerts’s performances at Zenit over the years are indicators that he could be a success in the Premier League.

The Black Cats do need to sign the former Gent player quickly, though, so that he can have a proper pre-season and settles in well with the rest of the team.
