The Tottenham midfielder was in determined mood when discussing what the club should be achieving in the coming campaign.

With Tottenham midfielder and Algeria star Nabil Bentaleb setting Spurs fans hearts at ease after he signed an improved and extended contract at White Hart Lane, the 20-year-old moved on to offer supporters huge words of encouragement for the coming season in an interview with the club's website.

Bentaleb is a forthright individual, and has often demonstrated his determination and commitment to the Spurs cause both on the pitch and when discussing matters off it.

And he left no doubt as to what the clubs intentions were next season, with the Algeria international likely to be given a key role in the side.

“We have to do better now, we have to go and achieve things," Bentaleb told the Spurs site defiantly. "The fans are behind us for the whole season and now it’s time for them to get rewarded.

“Grabbing on to fourth place would be one of the best things for the season.

“No matter what competition we will play in you can be sure that we will give 100%. We want to win and be able to lift up one trophy next season."

The 20-year-old has proved himself an essential figure under Mauricio Pochettino, starting every league game since he returned from the African Cup of Nations in February.

The former Lens trainee already has three goals in seventeen appearances for his country after making his international debut just before the World Cup last summer.

With just one goal in fifty-five Tottenham appearances, don't be surprised if Bentaleb improves this aspect of his game next season to underline why he is one of the most promising youngsters in the Premier League
