18-year-old Embolo has scored an impressive 18 goals in 50 games for Basel, and the Birmingham Mail claim that West Brom are interested in bringing the young forward to England this summer.
The Cameroonian-born striker has progressed through Basel’s youth academy to become a regular fixture in the first-team set-up, and his impressive goal return shows the real potential in a player of his young age. He has also registered 13 assists on top of his strike rate, and is seen as a real star of the future.
Capped by Switzerland as well, the forward has a bright future ahead of him, and has suggested he is ready for a big move at this early stage of his career.
The report states that Embolo could cost up to £10 million to prise him away from the Swiss giants, although for someone of his undeniable talent, young age, and with a wealth of European experience, it is hard to deny that signing him would be a good deal.
However, the Baggies do face competition for Embolo’s signature from two of their Premier League rivals, with the Daily Mirror reporting over the weekend that West Ham and Tottenham have been tracking the youngster ahead of a potential summer move.
He is clearly in demand, and that is no surprise considering all the talent he has shown, and it remains to be seen if any clubs formalise their interest in Embolo to submit a concrete offer in the coming weeks.
West Brom’s new-look strike force?
If Embolo was to arrive at the Hawthorns, and Saido Berahino was to remain with the Baggies, West Brom would arguably possess one of the best young attacking duos in European football.
Berahino is proven in England, and Embolo - who is noted for his athletic ability and natural goalscoring instinct - shares many of the same traits as his young counterpart.
They could become a fearsome partnership, and it is hard to deny that the Baggies would be making a great investment with his signing.
