Newcastle United will make a very serious bid for PSV attacking midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum this week, according to De Telegraaf.
It has been reported by the Dutch newspaper that Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren is an admirer of the Netherlands international, and has been so since his days as the FC Twente manager.
The Magpies are reportedly determined to sign the 24-year-old and will make a very serious offer for the PSV star this week.
Other interested clubs
It is not only Newcastle who are reportedly interested in Wijnaldum, though.
According to a report in The Daily Mail last month, Sunderland want to sign the 24-year-old, while Premier League rivals West Ham United, Swansea City and Southampton could also be interested (as per the same report).
Wijnaldum is one of the better players in the Eredivisie and helped PSV win the league title last season.
The former Feyenoord midfielder scored 14 goals and created 41 chances in 33 Eredivisie games during the 2014-15 season.
The 24-year-old had a pass accuracy of 84% and a shot accuracy of 54%, and won 17 headers, 63 dribbles and 26 tackles.
