Copenhagen reportedly want £3m for left back Ludwig Augustinsson.

According to Swedish TV channel Fotbollskanalen, FC Copenhagen have set a £3m asking price on Aston Villa and Liverpool target Ludwig Augustinsson.

Augustinsson, 21, joined Copenhagen from Goteborg in January, but has shot to fame having played a key part in Sweden's shock success at the Under-21 European Championships earlier this summer.

The left back featured throughout the competition, and his exceptional displays during the competition in the Czech Republic have now triggered interest in his signature.

Swedish newspaper Expressen reported last week that Aston Villa are pursuing Augustinsson as manager Tim Sherwood looks to sign a new left back this summer, whilst the Daily Mail suggested that Liverpool are also interested in signing the player as cover for Alberto Moreno.

Now, Fotbollskanalen report that Copenhagen want £3m for the player this summer, with Italian side Roma now also in the race for his signature.

That price is certainly affordable for Liverpool, whilst it should also be in Aston Villa's budget too - meaning a move for Augustinsson is certainly a possibility this summer.

Aston Villa or Liverpool?

If both Premier League clubs make moves for Augustinsson this summer, then the Swede could have a big decision to make.

Liverpool are a bigger club and can offer a Europa League campaign, but first team football could be hard to come by given Moreno's standing in the Liverpool first team.

However, Aston Villa offer regular first team football to Augustinsson, with Sherwood in desperate need of a new left back ahead of the new Premier League season.

It would be hard to reject Liverpool, but in order to continue his development and play on a regular basis, Villa could be the better option for the defender.
