Report: Departed Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Giles Coke training with Blackburn Rovers

Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Giles Coke is reportedly training with Championship rival Blackburn Rovers.

Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Giles Coke is training with Blackburn Rovers, according to The Sun.

Coke is a free agent at the moment, having left Wednesday at the end of the 2014-15 season.

The 29-year-old is currently training with Championship rivals Blackburn in an effort to get a contract, according to the report.

Good move from Blackburn Rovers?

Coke joined Wednesday in 2010 and is a good player, and he would be a good signing for Blackburn.

The former Motherwell man knows the Championship inside out, and would add depth to the current Rovers squad.

Gary Bowyer’s side finished ninth in the Championship table last season, and one suspects that they will be pushing for a top-six finish in the 2015-16 campaign.

Coke is probably not going to get straight into the team, but his experience will be important for Blackburn as the season progresses.

Moreover, the former Northampton Town midfielder will have a point to prove after a frustrating 2014-15 campaign in which he could make just three appearances in the Championship for Wednesday.
