Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Yannick Ferreira Carrasco from AS Monaco this summer, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com.
It has been reported by the Italian news outlet that the Spanish club have made contact, and that they are positive about finalising a deal to recruit the winger.
Blow for Tottenham Hotspur?
This latest development will come as a blow to Tottenham Hotspur, who have been linked with a move for Ferreira Carrasco.
According to a report in The Daily Star last month, the Premier League outfit are interested in the 21-year-old winger, who will cost as much as £16 million.
Tottenham are a bid club, but Atletico can offer the youngster the chance to play in the Champions League next season.
The Madrid outfit finished third in La Liga last season and have qualified for the group stage of Europe’s premier club competition for the 2015-16 campaign.
Moreover, Atletico will be competing for the league title next season, while Spurs will once again be fighting for just a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Ferreira Carrasco is one of the more promising young players in Ligue 1 and has been at Monaco his entire professional career.
The Belgium international enjoyed a positive season with Monaco in 2014-15, helping them finish third in Ligue 1.
In 36 league matches last season, the youngster scored six goals, created 56 chances, had a pass accuracy of 79% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and won 13 headers, 87 dribbles and 38 tackles.
