Report: Aston Villa target Tjaronn Chery wants England move

FC Groningen midfielder Tjaronn Chery is reportedly a target of Premier League outfit Aston Villa.

Tjaronn Chery has told his club FC Groningen that he wants to move to England this summer, according to The Sun.

Good news for Aston Villa?

The midfielder’s alleged wish to play in the Premier League will come as good news to Aston Villa, who have been linked with him.

The Sun claims that the Villans are interested in signing the 27-year-old attacking midfielder this summer.

The British tabloid has also reported of Turkish club Rizespor’s interest in Chery.

Good player?

Chery is one of the better players in the Eredivisie and joined Groningen on a permanent contract in the summer of 2014.

The former FC Twente man played an important role Erwin van de Looi’s side finishing eighth in the Eredivisie last season.

The 27-year-old scored 15 goals and created 59 chances in 34 Eredivisie matches for Groningen.

Chery had a pass accuracy of 82% and a shot accuracy of 55%, and won six headers, 22 dribbles and 19 tackles.
