Manchester United transfer news: Van Gaal interested in Begovic and Henriquez to be sold

Old Trafford

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report from the Mirror, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is considering a move for Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

The experienced stopper has been linked with a move to Chelsea to replace the departed Petr Cech and act as back-up to Thibaut Courtois, but the latest report suggests United are considering him if David de Gea leaves Old Trafford this summer.

Begovic has Premier League experience, years ahead of him in the game and would not be a risk; it is also being suggested that United hold a trump card over Chelsea with the promise of a regular starting spot (if De Gea leaves).

In other news, the Manchester Evening News claims United have agreed to sell striker Angelo Henriquez to Dinamo Zagreb this summer.

The Chile international has failed to get any chances at Old Trafford despite his impressive eye for goal and it is now being suggested that he will leave permanently this summer.

Considering how well he did on loan in Croatia last season it is somewhat surprising that United have opted not to at least give him a chance on their summer tour.

After all, with Radamel Falcao gone and doubts remaining over the future of Robin van Persie it could have been the perfect time for Henriquez to break through.
