Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has been speaking about alleged Manchester United target Morgan Schneiderlin, whose absence from Saints training may have raised a few eyebrows given the ongoing speculation surrounding the Frenchman’s future.
As reported by the Guardian, United have already offered £20million for the midfielder and are preparing to increase that with manager Louis van Gaal keen to sign the player before the club jets off on their summer tour.
But whatever the future holds, Koeman suggested that the 25-year-old will be taking part in Southampton training as normal once he gets over a minor health issue, and will be joining them for a summer trip abroad.
As reported by the club’s official Twitter account, Koeman confirmed that Schneiderlin missed training today (Monday) due to illness and that he would re-join the squad for this week’s trip to Austria as they step up their pre-season preparation.
That does not sound like a player who will heading to United – or anywhere else for that matter – any time soon, but in football, anything can happen…
