Tottenham Hotspur's new centre-back is clearly happy with his decision to move to North London.
The Austrian centre-back signed from German club Cologne earlier this summer, agreeing a five-year deal with Spurs paying £4.3million for him.
The 22-year-old is part of what looks like being a substantial defensive reshuffle this summer and he is clearly happy with his decision.
“It was such a good feeling to wear my new kit, with the Tottenham Hotspur logo, it makes me very proud,” Wimmer told tottenhamhotspur.com.
“I’m really looking forward to the season because I’m enjoying it already on my first day.”
Tottenham also have Kieran Trippier as part of their new-look defence and another new centre-back could yet arrive with a report from Gianluca Di Marzio claiming a deal has been done for Toby Alderweireld.
But whatever happens, it is clear Wimmer is happy with his surroundings and that can only bode well for his debut campaign.
Tottenham’s defence came in for plenty of criticism last season and it is up to Wimmer, Trippier and the rest to ensure things are a lot sturdier when the action kicks off next month.
