Forsyth suggests Derby have made a real statement with summer business

Derby County defender Craig Forsyth has been impressed by the calibre of players the club have signed already this summer.

Derby County star Craig Forsyth has told the club’s website that he feels Paul Clement has made a real statement of intent with the players he’s brought in so far this summer.

Derby have been one of the clubs doing a lot of business early on in the summer, which has seen them sign some top quality talent in different positions.

Forsyth feels it means only one thing; that the club are ready to make a strong claim for promotion into the Premier League.

“The ambition is there for everyone to see and I am sure the lads that we have signed can help us get there,” he told dcfc.co.uk.

“Everything is geared up here to go to the Premier League and we all want to get there and be players in the top league.”

Is Premier League promotion a realistic aim?

There’s no reason the Rams shouldn’t be one of the clubs competing for a position in the top six by the end of the coming season.

Clement has added quality and experience in key positions, giving himself extra options in terms of improving his squad to better deal with periods where several players may be unavailable through injury or suspension.

What do the new arrivals all have in common?

The new signings Clement has brought in; Darren Bent, Andreas Weimann, Chris Baird and Tom Ince to name just a few, have all played at a higher level.

They all know the standards expected and demanded when it comes to Premier League football.

That works for the club because it ensures that they will be in a good position to deal with the step up, if Clement can engineer a situation where promotion is a reality.
